Trout in the Classroom
Lourdes is excited to continue the Trout in the Classroom tradition with Caitlin Falcone in high school Biology. The program is defines itself as an “interdisciplinary, science-based program that invites classrooms and schools to explore aquatic ecosystems, life cycles, water quality and the scientific process through raising trout eggs in their classroom. It is a partnership between the Nebraska Game & Parks Commission, the Nebraska Environmental Trust and the Nebraska Trout Unlimited Chapter 710, provides schools with not only trout eggs but also curriculum and technical assistance throughout the year.” Here are the eggs when they arrived on January 17th, and they will begin hatching later next week. This trout experience has been a part of the 5th grade Science curriculum since 2014, and now it has graduated to our high school classrooms.
