Academic Decathlon Team State Champs

LOURDES CENTRAL CATHOLIC ACADEMIC DECATHLON TEAM WINS STATE!

Lourdes Central Catholic School Academic Decathlon team competed in the State Competition Friday and Saturday at Bellevue University and is the 2017-2018 State Champions in the Very Small Schools Division and the State Runner-up in the Small Schools Division. The Lourdes Academic Decathlon Team is coached by Mrs. Tammy Partsch and Mr. Tom Dinville.

 Each year a subject for the Academic Decathlon is chosen, this year’s theme was Africa. Students study various aspects of the theme to prepare for competition which includes tests, speeches, interviews, and Quiz Bowl competition.

Individual results:

HONORS STUDENTS ("A" Average)

James Mason was the top scoring student for Lourdes and the top scoring Honors student in the Small/Very Small Schools statewide.  GOLD: Science, Speech.  SILVER: Essay, Interview.  BRONZE: Art, Music, Literature, Economics.

Luke Partsch BRONZE: Essay.

SCHOLASTIC STUDENTS ("B" Average)

Grant Draus was the top scoring Scholastic student in the Small/Very Small Schools statewide.  GOLD: Art, Music, Literature. SILVER: Math, Science, Economics.

Tyler Mucha was the third top scoring Scholastic student in the Small/Very Small Schools statewide.  GOLD: Math, Science. SILVER: Music. BRONZE: Art.

Halli Whitten SILVER: Interview. BRONZE: Science.

VARSITY STUDENTS ("C" Average)

Brittni Watkins BRONZE: Science.
