Stations of the Cross at Lourdes
Bringing The Stations of the Cross to Lourdes Chapel
"What is a beautiful new chapel without the Stations of the Cross? During my recent pilgrimage to the Holy Land, I had the opportunity to visit the garden of Gethsemane. This garden contains very ancient olive trees that local Christians believe were alive when Jesus experienced his agony there.
I was very moved when I reflected that these olive trees may have heard Jesus pray to the Father as he accepted of the cup of suffering. This and other experiences inspired me to obtain hand-carved olive wood Stations of the Cross for our school chapel. By having this connection with the Holy Land, I hope to give our students a tangible reminder of the roots of our faith and a visible sign of God’s love for us." Fr. Mark Cyza, Lourdes President
