All-State Concert Participants
Two Lourdes Central Catholic students will represent the school at the Nebraska Music Educator's Association All-State concert this week in Lincoln. Sophomore Piper Monson and freshman Luke Partsch were selected to join the Nebraska All-State Choir and Nebraska All-State Band, respectively. Lourdes Central Catholic music teacher Lesley Gould said both students worked very hard to be selected. "Selection to All-State is one of the most prestigious honors a music student in Nebraska can receive," Gould said. "The amount of work required just to audition for these groups is tremendous."
Monson and Partsch received the audition music this past summer and spent the last few months learning it. The auditions themselves were done in a one-take format online. Monson and Partsch are both taught by Gould, but both also take private music lessons. Monson, who sings soprano, takes vocal lessons from Burton Schernikau of Lincoln. "I am very honored to be a part of All-State," Monson said. "I know how selective the process is and am excited about what's to come."
Partsch plays the French horn and takes lessons from Sarah Roberts of Nebraska City. "I am really looking forward to being part of such an incredible group of musicians," Partsch said.
Monson and Partsch will travel to Lincoln Wednesday, November 16, to start rehearsals. All-State performances for the Choir, Band, Orchestra, and Jazz Band will be Friday afternoon and evening at the Lied Center for Performing Arts in Lincoln.
